Description
Fluorometholone is an anti inflammatory agent inhibits the edema, fibrin deposition,
capillary dilation and phagocytic migration of the acute inflammatory response,
as well as capillary proliferation, deposition of collagen and scar formation.
Indications
Fluorometholone is indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammation
of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the globe.
Dosage
Instill one to two drops into the conjunctival sac 2 to 3 times a day.
Contraindiacations
It is contraindicated in patients with known history of hypersensitivity to the
ingredients used in this formulations.
Warnings & Precautions
To avoid contamination do not touch tip of container to any surface. Replace cap
after using. If you experience eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or
irritation of the eye, or if the conditions worsens or persists for more than 72
hours, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Keep this and all drugs out of reach
of children.Prolonged use of steroids may result in glaucoma with damage to the
optic nerve, defects in visual acuity, and fields of vision, and in posterior subcapsular
cataract formation. Prolonged use may also suppress the host immune response and
thus increase the hazard of secondary ocular infections.
Adverse effects
Elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) with possible development of glaucoma and
infrequent optic nerve damage, posterior subcapsular cataract formation.
Storage
Store in a cool dry place. Protect from light.
